Role Overview:

As a Local Program Consultant in our Local Program Operations Unit, you will enhance access to nutrition services through technical expertise and consultation. Your role includes supporting local WIC agencies, guiding budget management, training in quality service delivery, and developing local nutrition programs.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • System Development: Lead the creation and management of state-wide systems for local WIC agency operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and financial guidelines.
  • Community Engagement: Consult with community groups, manage policy development, oversee funding, and collaborate in staff recruitment and training.
  • Quality Improvement: Implement strategies for program enhancement, mentor staff, and contribute to long-range planning and policy adaptation.
  • Health Consultation: Advise on WIC and Nutrition Program Management with a focus on health equity, improving local agency operations and compliance.
  • Team Collaboration: Shape unit protocols and policies, engage in policy support, and stay updated with training and policy developments.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in emergency responses, attend key meetings, and engage in continuous learning and training.

Work Locations (One position has a duty station in Tumwater, WA, and one position has a duty station of Spokane, WA): 

  1. Western WA, Flex/Hybrid – work from home, travel to local agency sites, and participate in onsite collaboration at the Tumwater, WA duty station.
  2. Eastern WA, Flex/Hybrid – work from home, travel to local agency sites, and participate in onsite collaboration at the Spokane, WA duty station.
