Nutritionist – RD – Posting #23542
Full-time Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) needed for the WIC/Nutrition Department in Olympia, Thurston County. The full-time RD hired will also work at Elma, Ocean Shores, Rochester, Tenino and Yelm WIC departments.
While in this position, the RD will work closely with the Health Educator, Chronic Care Coordinators, medical providers and other clinical team members in an outpatient setting. The RD is responsible for nutrition education and counseling and will provide patient risk assessment, nutrition education, and nutrition services for patients referred by the Primary Care Provider in individual and some group settings. Nutritional conditions frequently encountered in our clinics include diabetes, obesity, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, heart disease and other chronic diseases. The RD will also work with patients with food allergies, GI conditions, eating disorder, weight management, pediatric nutrition, and other health concerns.
Required Education and Certification:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Nutrition from an accredited university
- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program or Coordinated Undergraduate Program in Dietetics and status as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission for Dietetic Registration required
- Certified Dietitian in the state of Washington required
- WIC experience preferred
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred not required.
Experience and Required Skills: Experience in an outpatient or similar setting with an interest in working with people for weight management, diabetes education, nutrition for chronic care conditions, and pediatric nutrition is desired. Ability to deal patiently and empathetically with multicultural clientele, even under stressful conditions, is required. Capability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision is essential. Ability to perform nutrition education in English and Spanish is preferred, please mention your language abilities in your application materials.
