Nutrition First is a non-profit organization working to improve the health of children in Washington state.
We support and promote breastfeeding, good nutrition, and prevention of childhood obesity through education and advocacy. Our efforts focus on the pre-natal and early childhood populations (with an emphasis on reaching low income families); promoting prevention and shaping the health of the next generation by decreasing risk factors for chronic disease through a lifetime of good nutrition.
We feel that access to healthy food is a social responsibility, and we know that good nutrition prepares a child to succeed in school and reach their full potential. Nutrition First is the State WIC Association, and is registered as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
WIC nourishes families
Your commitment to women and young children impacts our State by improving the nutritional intake of our families. Here is one WIC participant’s comments about how WIC helps.
“WIC was a great help when my family needed it and because of what I learned, I now shop in the produce section. My seven year old child says, ‘Now we know about the healthy things to eat.’”
